- Any suggestion for a good modem for analog cellular phone net?
-
- In my profession I have tried several modems on our ships with MS-mail Remote via nordic cellular net (NMT).
- Among others I have tried USR V.34 and Sportster 14.4 in both error correcting modes (V42, MNP and HST cellular) and without any
- correction. It seems to me that the built-in error correction in MS-mail Remote works better than the ones in the modems! If I take
- away all error correction in the modem and lock the speed to 2.4 or 4.8 kbit/s it works rather good when I get a good connection on
- the phone. But if the connection is a channel with heavy RF-interference or noisy because of weak signal it works rather bad.
-
- I think the best solution should be a modem specially developed for a noisy radiochannel with some sort of robust coding to take care
- of the interference and noise.
-
- Any suggestions or any one out there with experience from the field?
-
- Best
-
